TLDR The nicotinamide supplement did not reduce symptoms in horses with insect bite hypersensitivity.
The study investigated the effect of a dietary supplement containing nicotinamide on horses with insect bite hypersensitivity (IBH), involving 50 horses, with 46 completing the study. Over 3 months, 25 horses received the supplement while 25 received a placebo. Monthly evaluations included lesion photography, investigator scoring, and owner questionnaires. The results showed no statistically significant difference in symptom severity between the supplement and placebo groups, indicating that the nicotinamide supplement did not effectively reduce IBH symptoms.
