TLDR Niacinamide improves aging skin and is safe for use in cosmetics.
The 2005 study by Bissett, Oblong, and Berge showed that 5% niacinamide significantly improved aging facial skin in 50 white female subjects aged 35-60 over 12 weeks. Niacinamide reduced fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmented spots, red blotchiness, and skin yellowing, and improved skin elasticity. These effects were linked to increased collagen production and prevention of protein glycation. Niacinamide was well-tolerated, making it a suitable ingredient for cosmetic products targeting aging skin.
