The study investigated the effects of new therapeutic molecules on inhibiting apoptosis in hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPC) to prevent the regression phase of hair growth. Apoptosis was induced using staurosporin, which activated caspase-3 and caused cellular damage. The addition of spermidin and rutine significantly reduced caspase activity and cellular damage, with even greater effects when combined with zeaxantine. This combination preserved cell structure and counteracted caspase-3 over-expression, suggesting these molecules could effectively prevent the catagen phase in the hair bulb life cycle.
