TLDR The herbal anti-dandruff shampoo was effective and safe but needs more research for improvement.
The study aimed to develop a pure herbal anti-dandruff shampoo using extracts like Neem, Lemongrass, and Amla, and evaluate its efficacy and safety. The shampoo underwent various physicochemical tests and was blind-tested on 20 student volunteers. It showed high detergency, good cleaning, low surface tension, and good foam stability. The conditioning performance scores ranged from 1.75 to 3.4, comparable to market shampoos. Formulation F4 exhibited strong antifungal activity against Malassezia furfur. Despite promising results, further research is needed to enhance its quality and safety.
