TLDR The finasteride nanogel could be an effective topical treatment for hair loss.
The study developed and evaluated a novel finasteride (FSD) nanogel for topical treatment of androgenetic alopecia. The nanogel formulation aimed to enhance solubility, permeability, and biocompatibility, addressing issues with oral delivery. The optimized nanogel (C2 batch) demonstrated excellent gelling capacity, clear appearance, good viscosity, and stability. It showed a high drug content (91.25±0.9%), effective spreadability (6.7 cm/sec), and significant cumulative drug release (758.52±1.49 µg at 24 h). The results indicated that the finasteride nanogel could be a promising topical treatment for androgenetic alopecia.
