TLDR Combining nanofat with PRP is more effective than PRP alone for treating male hair loss.
In a study aimed at evaluating the efficacy and safety of combining nanofat with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus PRP alone in treating androgenic alopecia, 24 male patients were enrolled. The study excluded those who had received certain hair regrowth treatments in the past 6 months and required a washout period for topical minoxidil users. Each patient had a case area treated with nanofat+PRP and a control area treated with PRP only. Trichoscopy and trichogram examinations were conducted at baseline, and then at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-treatment by a blinded physician, along with patient satisfaction scores. Results showed a significant increase in hair density and thickness in the treated areas, with the greatest improvement at 6 months and some persistence at 12 months. No adverse events were recorded. The study concluded that a single session of nanofat+PRP provided a significant and enduring response in treating male androgenic alopecia, superior to PRP alone.
