TLDR Cancer drugs often cause temporary hair, skin, nail, and mouth issues.
The study conducted on 109 cancer patients in Erbil aimed to identify common mucocutaneous side effects of antineoplastic drugs. The majority of patients (87 females and 22 males) experienced hair changes (31.71%), with anagen effluvium being the most prevalent. Skin changes were observed in 28.29% of patients, nail changes in 20.49%, and mucosal changes in 19.51%, with aphthous ulcers being common. The study concluded that while these adverse effects caused significant morbidity, most complications subsided after cessation of therapy without permanent damage.
