TLDR MSC-Exo are safe and effective for treating skin diseases.
Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exo) are emerging as promising cell-free therapeutic agents for treating skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases (SSTDs), which affect over one-third of the global population. Current treatments for SSTDs often have limitations such as insufficient efficacy, side effects, and high costs. This review examines clinical trials, studies, and case reports on MSC-Exo, highlighting their application in conditions like alopecia, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, melasma, and skin aging. The findings suggest that MSC-Exo are safe and effective, offering a novel treatment approach for SSTDs with ongoing research supporting their clinical potential.
