TLDR There is no significant link between the MMP-1 rs1799750 polymorphism and androgenetic alopecia in the Indonesian population.
This study investigated the prevalence of the MMP-1 rs1799750 polymorphism in 100 Indonesian subjects, half with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and half without. Genotyping revealed similar distributions of the 1G/1G, 1G/2G, and 2G/2G genotypes in both groups. The allele frequencies were also comparable, with no significant association found between the MMP-1 genotype and AGA (p-value of 0.96). Thus, the study concluded that there is no significant link between the MMP-1 rs1799750 polymorphism and AGA in this population.
