TLDR Minoxidil is a safe and effective hair loss treatment, with pharmacists enhancing its benefits.
Minoxidil, originally developed for hypertension, is now widely used to treat androgenetic alopecia by dilating scalp blood vessels, enhancing follicle nutrition, and extending hair growth phases. This study, a bibliographic review from 2019 to 2024, analyzed Minoxidil's efficacy in aesthetic pharmacy practice using databases like Medline, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Results indicate that pharmacists play a crucial role in individualized monitoring, correct usage guidance, and identifying drug interactions, which enhances Minoxidil's effectiveness. The study concludes that Minoxidil is a safe and effective hair loss treatment with minimal side effects, and pharmacists significantly contribute to treatment adherence and therapeutic benefits for patients with androgenetic alopecia.
