TLDR Intradermal microbotox injections work better and last longer for reducing large facial pores than topical application.
This study compared the effectiveness of microbotox injections versus topical application following microneedling in treating wide facial pores in 20 patients. The results indicated that microbotox injections were significantly more effective, with a 49% improvement in pore scores and a 58.5% improvement in sebum scores, compared to 35% and 37.5% improvements with the topical method. Patient satisfaction was higher with injections, and the effects lasted for 4 months, whereas the topical treatment effects diminished. The study concluded that microbotox injections were more effective and had a higher patient recommendation rate, despite side effects like pain, edema, and erythema. Factors such as older age, male gender, smoking, and sun exposure negatively impacted treatment outcomes.
