TLDR OM-X® helped prevent negative effects of Vitamin C deficiency in mice, suggesting it could protect organs and regulate metabolism.
In a study involving SMP30/GNL knockout mice, which are unable to produce Vitamin C and suffer from poor hair growth and decreased liver function, the effects of OM-X®, a fermented vegetable and fruit extract, were examined. The mice were divided into three groups of six: one without Vitamin C supplementation, one with Vitamin C supplementation, and one receiving OM-X® without Vitamin C. After 8 weeks, the group without Vitamin C showed significant weight loss and signs of hepatic injury, while the OM-X® group exhibited improvements in adenylate levels, antioxidant capacity, and protein synthesis. The study concluded that OM-X® could prevent the negative biological effects of Vitamin C deficiency in these mice, indicating potential benefits for organ protection and metabolic regulation.
