TLDR Severe menstrual issues in PCOS women signal higher risk for heart and metabolic problems.
The study indicates that women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who experience amenorrhea have a higher prevalence of insulin resistance, prediabetes, and dyslipidemia compared to those with oligomenorrhea or eumenorrhea. This suggests that the severity of menstrual dysfunction can serve as an easily accessible marker to identify PCOS women who are at the greatest risk for cardiometabolic diseases.
