TLDR Combined light therapy improves eye health and quality of life for those with meibomian gland dysfunction.
This study evaluated the efficacy of the Eye-light® device, which combines intense pulsed light therapy and low-level light therapy, as a treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye disease. Conducted over 6 weeks with 22 eyes from 11 patients, the study involved four weekly treatment sessions. Results indicated that the combined light therapy significantly improved ocular surface outcomes and the quality of life for patients. The study concluded that this therapy could be considered as an adjunctive rescue treatment in protocols for meibomian gland dysfunction.
