TLDR Early hair loss may be linked to metabolic syndrome.
This study aimed to explore the differences in medical comorbidities, including metabolic syndrome (MS), based on the timing of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) onset. The medical records of 1,141 subjects were analyzed retrospectively and classified into early- and late-onset AGA groups. The study found a significantly higher prevalence of MS in patients with early-onset AGA compared to late-onset AGA patients. However, there were no statistically significant differences in blood tests and anthropometric characteristics between the two groups. The study suggests that early-onset AGA may be associated with MS, but further research is needed to confirm this association.
