TLDR Ayurvedic treatment, exercise, and a healthy diet can effectively manage PCOD symptoms.
This case report details the management of hirsutism in a 19-year-old female with obese PCOD using an Ayurvedic treatment protocol. Over 3 months, the patient was treated with Nitya Virechana and Shamana Aushadhi (Kulatthadi Kashaya and Shatapushpa Churna), resulting in regular menstrual cycles, an 8 kg weight loss, normalized serum testosterone and insulin levels, and reduced facial hair growth and acne. The treatment also normalized her FSH:LH ratio and ovarian volume. This case suggests that Ayurvedic protocols, combined with proper exercise and a healthy diet, may be effective in managing PCOD symptoms.
