Is There an Association Between Male Alopecia Areata and the Ratio of Second to Fourth Finger Length?

TLDR A lower second to fourth finger length ratio may predict male alopecia areata.
This study investigated the association between the second to fourth finger length ratio (2D to 4D) and male alopecia areata (AA) in 168 participants. The findings revealed that males with AA had a significantly lower 2D to 4D ratio in both hands compared to healthy controls, with the right hand showing a stronger predictive capacity for AA development. However, there was no significant correlation between the 2D to 4D ratio and the severity of AA. This research suggests that the 2D to 4D ratio could be a potential predictor of AA development.
