TLDR A man had a unique case of three skin conditions happening together.
A 35-year-old man presented with hair loss and a pruritic eruption on his back and chest, diagnosed as Malassezia folliculitis, granuloma annulare, and alopecia areata. This case was notable as it was the first reported instance of Malassezia folliculitis occurring alongside other dermatologic conditions. The American Society for Microbiology had recently updated the nomenclature, combining Pityrosporum ovale and P. orbiculare under Malassezia furfur. The patient's medical history was unremarkable, and he was not on any medications.
