TLDR A goat had skin issues caused by Malassezia slooffiae, marking the first known case in goats.
An adult male Pygmy goat exhibiting hair loss and poor body condition was diagnosed with Malassezia slooffiae-associated dermatitis. The goat showed diffuse alopecia across various body regions, and histological examination revealed orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis, epidermal hyperplasia, and perivascular dermatitis. The presence of Malassezia slooffiae was confirmed through polymerase chain reaction and DNA sequencing. This case represented the first documented instance of M. slooffiae-associated dermatitis in goats.
