TLDR A 22-year-old with multiple autoimmune diseases needs a multidisciplinary treatment approach.
This case report described a 22-year-old patient diagnosed with multiple autoimmune syndrome (MAS) type 3, which included lupus erythematosus, autoimmune thyroiditis, alopecia areata, and vitiligo. The patient had lupus for 3 years and thyroiditis for 1 year, with recent development of alopecia areata and vitiligo. Laboratory findings showed elevated total IgE, positive anti-SSA antibodies, positive antinuclear antibodies, and high anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies. Despite being on Prednisone, the patient developed new symptoms, leading to an increased dosage and additional topical treatments. The report highlighted the rarity of this combination of autoimmune diseases and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to manage the conditions.
