TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil improved hair growth in a woman with short anagen syndrome.
This study presents a case of a 24-year-old female with short anagen syndrome (SAS) who experienced significant improvement in hair growth after treatment with low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM). The patient, who had persistent hair growth issues since childhood, was treated with LDOM starting at 1.25 mg and increased to 2.5 mg after one month. After seven months, the patient reported reduced hair shedding, increased hair length, and improved hair density, confirmed by Canfield’s HairMetrix measurements. Despite mild facial hypertrichosis, the patient continued the treatment. This case supports LDOM as a viable treatment for adult SAS and suggests potential shared therapeutic approaches with other hair loss conditions due to genetic overlaps.
