TLDR Minoxidil treatment increased hair density in a young Asian girl with short anagen syndrome, but didn't improve hair length or thickness.
In 2016, a case study was conducted on a 7-year-old Asian girl with short anagen syndrome (SAS), a rare condition characterized by short, thin hair. The girl's hair only grew to 2 cm and had a decreased density of 86/cm². After being treated with 2% minoxidil solution twice per day for 7 months, her hair density increased to 109/cm², although the hair length did not elongate and the average hair caliber decreased to 25 µm. This case was the second reported instance of SAS in an Asian patient and demonstrated that 2% minoxidil topical solution can increase hair density in SAS patients, even though it does not improve hair length and caliber.
