TLDR The study concludes that long COVID recovery involves time, various treatments, and a strong patient-provider relationship.
The document is a case study of a 26-year-old female who developed long COVID, a condition with persistent symptoms after acute COVID-19 infection. Despite treatment for concurrent Lyme disease, her symptoms worsened. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), persistent nocturnal hypoglycemia, and eventually long COVID. Her symptoms improved gradually and she fully recovered by August 2021. The study divides the progression of long COVID into three phases and emphasizes that it remains a clinical diagnosis after an exclusionary workup. The most effective treatments include time, extended healing period, mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccinations, graded horizontal exercise therapy, breathing techniques, compression stocking usage, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), and cognitive behavioral therapy. The study highlights the importance of a strong patient-provider relationship and the need for further research into more targeted treatment options.
