Liposomes and Follicular Penetration

Liposomes show promise for the hair cosmetic industry due to their ability to enhance hair conditioning, replace lost melanin, and treat hair disorders like hair loss. Studies, such as those by Lieb et al., have demonstrated that multilamellar phospholipid liposomes have superior follicular penetration compared to other vehicles like lauryl sulfate and ethanol. Additionally, Yarosh et al. developed T4N5 liposomes containing a DNA repair enzyme to improve DNA lesion removal after UV exposure, highlighting the potential of liposomes in cosmetic applications.
