TLDR Long-hair follicular unit excision improves hairline restoration results and patient satisfaction.
This retrospective study on 248 Chinese patients (223 women and 25 men) found that long-hair follicular unit excision (LHF) for hairline restoration is highly effective and safe, with a graft survival rate of 93.1% after 9 months. Patient satisfaction was very high, with a mean score of 4.7 out of 5 at 9 months. LHF offers natural-looking results without the need for donor area shaving, minimal visible scarring, and high patient satisfaction, although it is time-consuming, requires technical expertise, and is costly. The study concluded that LHF significantly enhances facial aesthetics and quality of life.
