TLDR Surgery on a 68-year-old woman with an ovarian tumor led to reduced hirsutism and normal testosterone levels.
In 1998, a case of Leydig cell virilizing tumor of the ovary was reported in a 68-year-old woman. The patient exhibited clinical signs of virilization, clitoromegaly, and androgenic alopecia. Despite normal results from an RMN of the encephalon and an abdominal ultrasound, the patient underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Following the surgery, the patient experienced a regression of hirsutism and her plasma testosterone levels returned to normal.
