TLDR Both treatments for localized alopecia areata are equally effective.
The study compared the effects of intralesional triamcinolone acetate and intralesional methotrexate in treating localized alopecia areata in 128 patients. Each group had 64 patients, receiving injections three weeks apart for up to four sessions, with a follow-up a year later. Statistical analysis showed no significant differences in age, gender distribution, remission rates (p = 0.115), or recurrence rates (p = 0.188) between the two groups. The study concluded that there was no statistically significant difference in the outcomes between the Triamcinolone and Methotrexate groups, suggesting both treatments are comparably effective.
