TLDR Inositol helped cure hair loss around rats' eyes and improved their growth.
The document reports on a study where inositol was used to treat a condition known as "spectacled eye" in rats, which is characterized by denudation around the eyes and is similar to alopecia. The study involved 15 rats that were fed a diet deficient in certain B vitamins, which induced the spectacled eye condition. When these rats were given 10 mg of inositol per day, the swelling around their eyes disappeared within 24 hours, and hair regrowth was evident within three days. By 10 to 14 days, the hair around the eyes had completely regrown, and the rats appeared normal. Additionally, the rats receiving inositol showed an increased average weekly weight gain of 15 grams compared to the control group's 10 grams. The study concludes that inositol is the factor responsible for hair regeneration in the spectacled eye condition in rats and also plays a role in their overall growth.
