Synthesis of Inositol in Mice
TLDR Mice need pantothenic acid to make inositol.
The study demonstrates that mice can synthesize inositol, but this synthesis is dependent on the presence of pantothenic acid in their diet. Mice with spontaneous recovery from alopecia had intestinal microorganisms that produced significantly more inositol compared to those from hairless mice. The research also indicates that inositol deficiency can occur even if inositol is present in the diet, provided pantothenic acid is absent. Additionally, the distribution of free and combined inositol in various biological materials was explored.
