Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) have enhanced our understanding of allergic diseases by highlighting their role in inflammation and allergic dysregulation. Unlike T and B lymphocytes, ILCs do not have antigen-specific receptors but share similar transcription and cytokine expression profiles with T cells, acting as their functional counterparts in innate immunity. Primarily located in mucosal tissues, ILCs contribute to the pathogenesis of allergic diseases by accumulating in areas of allergic inflammation and secreting effector cytokines. This review discusses the impact of ILCs on allergic diseases and how an allergic microenvironment influences ILC plasticity.
