TLDR Telogen effluvium negatively affects quality of life, increasing stress, depression, and anxiety.
This study investigated the impact of telogen effluvium (TE) on quality of life (QoL), stress, depression, and anxiety by comparing 205 TE patients with 105 healthy controls. The results showed that TE patients had significantly higher scores on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) compared to controls, indicating a substantial negative impact on their QoL and mental health. There was no significant correlation between the duration of TE and the levels of stress, depression, or anxiety. The study concludes that TE is associated with increased stress, depression, and anxiety, suggesting the need for more comprehensive research to better understand these relationships.
