TLDR Younger males with androgenic alopecia face significant psychological impacts but maintain better quality of life.
The study evaluated the psychological impact and quality of life in 200 male subjects with androgenic alopecia (AGA) aged 15 to 60 years, using the Hairdex scale and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). Results indicated that younger patients (<30 years) experienced more stigmatization and poorer functioning and emotional stability compared to older patients, yet they were more self-assured. The DLQI scores were significantly higher in younger subjects, particularly those under 20, suggesting that despite the challenges, younger patients retained a better quality of life. The study highlighted the significant psychological impact of AGA, particularly in younger males.
