The advancement of virtual surgical planning has become a valuable tool in orthognathic surgery and facial and oral trauma reconstruction. It enhances the understanding of complex 3D anatomical relationships, facilitates predictive modeling of complex cases, and reduces surgery time. Optical scanning further aids preoperative preparation and increases efficiency. Digital integration allows for the production of custom osteosynthesis plates and titanium templates for complex osteotomies. Virtual planning enables coordination across multiple specialties, such as aligning orthognathic and facial trauma surgeries with prosthetic reconstruction, including advanced dental implant reconstruction planning in coordination with mandibular reconstruction using fibular bone. The latest advancement in surgical planning includes robot-assisted procedures, allowing real-time changes and plan modifications.
