TLDR Imiquimod cream 5% effectively treated generalized discoid lupus erythematosus.
Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic skin condition that can lead to scarring, hair loss, and pigmentary changes if not treated early. A case study of a 63-year-old man with generalized DLE, presenting with erythematous scaly patches on the face and other body parts, demonstrated successful treatment using imiquimod cream 5%. The cream was applied three times a week, every other week, resulting in almost complete recovery after 24 applications over two months. This case suggested that topical imiquimod could be an alternative treatment for generalized DLE.
