TLDR More human hair protein makes the films weaker and less clear.
The study focused on creating blend films from human hair keratin and calcium alginate using calcium chloride as a coagulation bath. The components showed good compatibility due to calcium bridges and hydrogen bonds. However, increasing the protein content from human hair led to larger molecular aggregates, which negatively impacted the light transmittance, tensile strength, elongation at break, and liquid absorption of the films.
