TLDR Hesperidin protects rat testicles from finasteride damage and improves sperm health.
Hesperidin, a flavonoid found in citrus fruits, has been found to protect against testicular oxidative stress caused by finasteride in Wistar rats. The study suggests that hesperidin may have a protective effect against finasteride-induced testicular damage, improve sperm count and motility, and reduce abnormal sperm in male rats. Hesperidin was found to have a better binding affinity for 5a-reductase than finasteride. The compound may also have potential as a 5AR inhibitor, but further research is required to confirm this.
