TLDR Some herbal remedies like onion juice, rosemary oil, and pumpkin seed oil may help with hair loss.
This systematic review evaluates the efficacy and safety of herbal and traditional remedies for alopecia, focusing on randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews. The evidence is varied, but some positive findings include the use of topical onion juice for patchy alopecia areata, rosemary oil showing similar hair count increases to 2% minoxidil over 6 months, and pumpkin seed oil significantly increasing hair count compared to placebo. The review highlights the need for more consistent research to better understand the effectiveness and safety of these treatments.
