TLDR The combination of certain vitamins and pumpkin seed oil has not been proven to maintain normal hair.
In 2012, the Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) evaluated a health claim related to a combination of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, D-biotin and pumpkin seed oil (Cucurbita pepo L.) and the maintenance of normal hair. The claim suggested that this combination could reduce hair loss and increase the number of hair in healthy adults. However, the panel found that the study provided by the applicant, Nutrilinks Sarl, did not use the food which is the subject of the claim, and therefore, no conclusions could be drawn from this study for the scientific substantiation of the claim. The panel concluded that a cause and effect relationship had not been established between the consumption of the specified combination and the maintenance of normal hair.
