TLDR Hangeshashinto's natural products may help treat stomatitis by reducing inflammation and cytotoxicity.
The review investigates the potential of natural products in Hangeshashinto water extract to suppress stomatitis by targeting advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). It identifies 19 natural products in the extract and 16 in the crude drug extract, which inhibit AGE formation and suppress AGE-induced inflammation. Compounds like glycyrrhizin, baicalin, and quercetin are highlighted for their roles in inhibiting intracellular AGE generation and extracellular AGE-RAGE/TLR4 signaling. The study suggests that these natural products could protect oral epithelial cells and manage stomatitis linked to AGEs, although further research is needed to fully understand their mechanisms and efficacy.
