TLDR Hair transplant surgery can successfully treat hair loss at the back of the neck.
The document from 2018 detailed a successful case of hair transplantation into the nape of the neck in a 39-year-old male patient suffering from scarring alopecia due to acne keloidalis nuchae. The patient had been symptom-free for 2 years prior to the procedure. The surgery involved transplanting 700 grafts from the occipital donor area using manual follicular unit extraction (FUE) and implanting them into the affected areas at the nape. The patient showed natural-looking results 6 months post-operation. The study concluded that hair restoration surgery, particularly FUE, is a viable option for patients with alopecia in the nape area, as it allows the selection of 1 and 2 hair FUE grafts without the formation of scars in these susceptible individuals.

The conversation is about the effectiveness of finasteride (fin) in preventing hair loss after a hair transplant. Some users have experienced hair thinning and loss after stopping finasteride, while others have had success with finasteride and minoxidil (min) in maintaining their transplanted hair. The general consensus is that finasteride is important for younger patients to prevent further hair loss.

Han Bio plans to start clinical trials for a new hair multiplication technology this year, which could significantly reduce the cost and time of hair transplantation. The technology uses a single hair strand to cultivate enough cells for 30,000 hair strands.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 6 months ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.
