TLDR Hair transplantation with FUE is safe, effective, and better than FUT for male hair loss.
A retrospective observational study from 3 years ago found that hair transplantation using follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a safe and effective method for treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA), with a high success rate and low complication rate. The study included consecutive male patients who underwent the procedure between January 2016 and June 2017 in two centers. FUE was found to have advantages over follicular unit transplantation (FUT). The study concluded that hair transplantation using the FUE method is a safe and effective treatment for male androgenetic alopecia patients with specific age and staging criteria.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 6 months ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.

The conversation is about the progress of verteporfin in hair loss trials, with users expressing curiosity about its effectiveness and updates. Specific treatments mentioned include FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) combined with verteporfin, with one reported case of donor area regrowth after a year, and three patients being monitored post-treatment by Dr. Bloxham with monthly updates on YouTube.
Diffuse hair loss and scalp biopsies

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
