TLDR The SAFE System may improve hair transplant results but isn't suitable for everyone.
The study introduced the SAFE System for Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), which was tested on 59 patients and 6,947 grafts, resulting in an average follicle transection rate of 6.14%. The SAFE System was shown to potentially improve FUE techniques with a low adverse reaction rate. However, commentary by Walter Unger criticized the universal suitability of the SAFE System for all patients, noting that not all are ideal candidates as evidenced by a transection rate as high as 15% in at least one case. Unger also disputed the characterization of FUE as "minimally invasive" and questioned the claimed benefits of the procedure. Despite these concerns, Unger recognized the advantages of FUE in certain scenarios and suggested that the SAFE System could benefit novice surgeons by reducing transection rates.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 6 months ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.

The conversation is about the progress of verteporfin in hair loss trials, with users expressing curiosity about its effectiveness and updates. Specific treatments mentioned include FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) combined with verteporfin, with one reported case of donor area regrowth after a year, and three patients being monitored post-treatment by Dr. Bloxham with monthly updates on YouTube.
