TLDR Pubic hair transplant surgery is an effective and permanent treatment for pubic hair loss.
From 2001 to 2005, a study was conducted on 507 Korean women, aged 41.3 years on average, who underwent hair restoration surgery for pubic atrichosis or hypotrichosis. The study found that 22.7% had pubic atrichosis and 77.3% had pubic hypotrichosis, with 81.7% of atrichosis patients having a family history of the condition. The main reason for the procedure was the patient's sense of inferiority to the same sex (73.8%). On average, 929.3 hairs were transplanted per patient, with a survival rate of 73.6% for single-hair grafts on the pubis. The study concluded that pubic hair transplantation surgery is an effective cosmetic procedure for these conditions, and is the only permanent treatment.
