TLDR Hair's resistance to wear varies by ethnicity and treatment, with less wear indicating stronger hair.
The study developed a methodology to evaluate cosmetic treatments based on hair's resistance to mechanical wear using a vibrational vortex cycle. This protocol measured plastic deformation and degradation of hair caused by friction with hardened steel balls. Results indicated that lower degradation rates corresponded to higher resistance to mechanical wear. The study also found variations in degradation based on hair ethnicity and type of treatment, suggesting the method's potential for assessing cosmetic treatment effects on hair.
