Development and Evaluation of Hair Mask Formulations Containing Vegetable Oils from Brazilian Biodiversity for Curly Hair

This study developed and evaluated hair mask formulations containing pequi and buriti oils, derived from Brazilian biodiversity, for curly hair. The formulations were tested for texture, spreadability, and rheological behavior, and their efficacy was assessed on curly hair tresses for gloss, tensile strength, and fiber diameter. Results indicated that formulations with these oils improved texture properties and significantly increased hair gloss (p < 0.05). Pequi oil specifically enhanced tensile strength (p < 0.05). The study concludes that these oils have potential to improve the physical-mechanical properties of curly hair, making them suitable for conditioning products tailored to curly hair needs.
