Approach to Hair Loss in Women of Color

    TLDR Proper education can prevent traction alopecia in women of color.
    Hair loss in women of color posed a unique diagnostic challenge that required a systematic approach, starting with a clinical examination of the hair and scalp to guide history-taking and clinical assessment. The most common issues were hair breakage, traction alopecia, and central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, and patients could have more than one condition simultaneously, each needing separate attention. Traction alopecia was noted to be completely preventable with proper education of both the public and medical professionals.
