TLDR PRP therapy can temporarily grow hair in CCCA patients but isn't a permanent cure.
This study evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy as an adjunctive treatment for stabilized central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) in two women. Both patients showed an increase in hair density during monthly PRP sessions but experienced a significant decrease in hair density after switching to a 6-month interval regimen. The findings suggest that PRP may be beneficial for hair growth in CCCA, but the effects diminish with longer intervals between treatments. The study highlights the need for more frequent maintenance sessions and acknowledges limitations such as the small sample size and potential confounding effects of other treatments. No adverse effects were reported from the PRP sessions.
