TLDR Solutions without sodium ions best preserve hair follicle transplants.
The study evaluated the viability of human hair follicles in artificial media before transplantation, focusing on the ionic balance of potassium and sodium. It found that the Dimephosphone solution best maintained ionic homeostasis, minimizing potassium loss and keeping the potassium-sodium ratio close to physiological levels, which indicates better preservation of cell viability. The study concludes that solutions without sodium ions are optimal for preserving hair follicle transplants, as they help maintain the cell's resting potential and metabolic activity.
