TLDR Hair follicle transplantation can hide scars but often needs more than one surgery for better results.
The clinical study investigated hair follicle transplantation on scar tissue in 23 patients, resulting in 25 cases. The study revealed that this procedure is more challenging on scar tissue due to factors like poor blood circulation and tissue stiffness. After 6 months, 18 cases were followed up, showing 44.4% excellent, 38.9% good, 11.1% fair, and 5.6% poor outcomes. Patients with burn scars had better results compared to those with incision scars. The conclusion was that multiple operations might be necessary for improved aesthetic results, and patients should be aware of this. Hair follicle transplantation was deemed effective for scar camouflage but may require additional procedures.
