Engineering Hair Follicle Regeneration: Harnessing Stem Cell Technologies, 3D Bioprinting, and Epigenetic Modulation for Precision Therapeutics
May 2025

TLDR Advanced techniques show promise for hair regeneration, but more research is needed for practical use.
This literature review explores advanced strategies for hair follicle regeneration, focusing on stem cell technologies, 3D bioprinting, and epigenetic modulation. It highlights the potential of hair follicle stem cells, dermal papilla cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and mesenchymal stem cells in hair regeneration. 3D bioprinting offers precise control over tissue architecture, while epigenetic modulation provides new therapeutic targets. Despite significant progress, challenges such as long-term viability, vascularization, and scalability remain for clinical application. The review emphasizes the need for further research and ethical considerations to translate these laboratory advancements into effective patient care.
